UA Leaders In Science Teaching Scholarship Program
Scholarship are available in the University of Alabama-Developing Leaders in Science Teaching (LIST) Program. The LIST program, funded through the National Science Foundation, recruits Biology, Chemistry, and Physics BS graduates to become certified science teachers.
The LIST Scholarship covers up to $17,100/Year for graduate students to complete a fast track one year Teacher Certification MA Program in General Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics Education. The secondary science certification Master’s degree certifies the teaching of science in grades 6-12 in Alabama, other states, & overseas. As a graduate of the LIST MA program you will teach in your certification field in a high needs school system and receive a $10,600 salary supplement each year for two years above your regular salary. During this required four years as a LIST science teacher, you will register for 6 tuition-free credit hours of additional graduate coursework and an extensive induction program to support your classroom science teaching moving from novice science teacher to science teacher leader. The due date for LIST Scholarships for students starting in Summer 2020 is open for the upcoming semester.
